Jonny Dixon is a freelancer who has been working in the fields of puppetry, mask, physical and visual theatre for the past 13 years. As a performer and deviser he has toured extensively, both nationally and internationally, with many companies including Faulty Optic, Green Ginger, Strangeface, DNA, The Wright Stuff, Periplum and Fecund.
He has also developed a strong profile as a mask and puppet maker and designer working for theatre, television and film. Most recently working on Billy Elliot the musical.
Jonny has recently made his first solo theatre piece, Muzzle, produced by Farnham Maltings. It toured across the south east and south west of England and was part of the No Strings Attached Festival in Meinz, Germany.
Muzzle takes the classic tale of ‘Peter and the Wolf’ and gives it a gleefully dark twist! Set in Stalingrad – a city battered by the Second World War, the show blends strange characters, startling masks, wonderfully wonky puppetry, animated sets and atmospheric sound. In turns comic, tragic and wonderfully strange, Muzzle is a dynamic theatrical treat that will delight all audiences…
With “Muzzle”, Dixon takes away the pathos of the naïve fiction and, in an incredible fashion turns the fear of war into a lasting impression. Allgemeine Zeitung
