Lucy’s work explores our narrative relationship with objects through craft processes. Her small scale sculptures re-appropriate objects and historical forms through metalwork techniques and mixed media installation. Lucy also creates jewellery, pairing found objects with precious metals to create enigmatic wearable pieces.

Having been based in the north for the majority of her career Lucy gained a First Class Hons in BA Three Dimensional Design from Manchester Metropolitan University and further honed her skills by completing an MA (Distinction) in Jewellery, Silversmithing and Related Products at the BIAD School of Jewellery in Birmingham.

Lucy has developed a strong portfolio of work and experience during her career to date. She has experience as an Associate Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University and has contributed to a number of exhibitions, such as the Re-make/Re-model Exhibition at The National Glass Centre in Sunderland and the Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair in Manchester.

She has also contributed to a number of collaborative and community projects, such as Craftworks community arts project with the Library Theatre Company, Manchester and has taken on commissions by organisations such as The National Glass Centre and The Art Fund Shop.

Lucy is passionate about showcasing craft skills which are not normally recognised and facilitating the learning of these techniques to aid understanding. Having based so much of her work indirectly on people and their environment she is now keen to expand this response through collective learning. Her narrative approach will certainly benefit participants by providing space for creative reflection and discussion whilst offering a framework to learn new techniques and produce responsive work.
