A new Exhibition at Farnham Maltings by
The Surrey Guild of Craftsmen

Sat 14 - Sun 15 April, 10.30am-5pm, free entry

The Surrey Guild of Craftsmen is coming in force to Farnham Maltings showing a stunning collection of new work.

As an extension to the permanent display in Shop Maltings, the weekend of April 14th – 15th 2012 will see the addition of new work by 15 designer/makers from the Surrey Guild of Craftsmen.

They will be showing and selling their work in the Cellar Bar for two days only.

New members include Hilary Sinclair whose jewellery involves meticulous silver inlay in beautiful pieces of polished and sculpted wood, and Surrey based Richard Heeley, an artist potter who draws on Eastern ceramic traditions to influence designs and techniques and uses stoneware glazes and forms from Song China, construction and firing techniques from Japan and Korean brushwork. Local (Tongham based) artist and calligrapher Michael Walsh will be there showing his beautiful illustrated calligraphic wall pieces.

Alongside these new members will be long term Surrey Guild of Craftsmen designers such as Farnham Silversmith Ruta Brown, Kaleidoscope maker Frank Higgins and London based Milliner Extraordinaire Sharon Williams, who will be in residence to show work and discuss their products and craft with visitors.

new work for spring…

With collections arriving from the regions emerging and established makers, spring is an exciting time in the shop.

In the jewellery corridor we welcome back Donna Collinson and Caroline Thomson. Liana Sheppard’s Ocular Jewellery features for the first time and is a fresh injection of colour.

In the craft shop we are pleased to showcase work by the latest new members to the Surrey Guild of Craftsmen, including wooden vessels by Howard Ayles and humorous wire pictures by Mike Topham.

For a unique mother’s day gift or an easy update to your décor at home then the shop is well worth a visit in March with arrivals including illustrated home wares by Mary Kilvert, willow by Judith Needham and hand embroidered cushions by Debbie Hardman.

A series of 10 cards by Andrew Morrison - Inspired by Farnham andcommissioned by Farnham Maltings.

The 10th and final card of Andrew Morrison's Farnham series has now arrived at shop maltings. Last October Andrew spent a week with us at the Maltings. He led a printmaking workshop, met and spoke with our audience at festival of crafts, and spent time in the town. On the back of this Andrew has produced 10 cards spotlighting some of Farnham's forgotten heritage and celebrating the rich tradition of crafts in the town.

Coming soon... to complete the set and the year Andrew Morrison is working on a Farnham Christmas Card, look out for it arriving to the shop in November!
